I have always been passionate about preserving and protecting the natural world. As a mechanic and automotive enthusiast, I became interested in electric transportation around 10 years ago after a test ride at a local event, I was hooked. Our family now has its own EV (2018 Model 3) and we hope to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels over time while also helping others do the same.<\/p>\n

I have driven EVs for four years and put 40,000 km on them. I started with a 2015 Fiat 500e and then over the course of 2021 when I owned a used EV dealership, I regularly drove Nissan Leafs and Chevy Bolts. Now I am the proud owner of a 2022 Tesla Model 3 Long Range. What I like most about EVs are zero tailpipe emissions, very low fuel costs, and the quiet driving experience. I’m never going back to ICE.<\/p>\n

Joined SaskEV in the spring of 2018 shortly after acquiring his first electric vehicle, a Nissan Leaf. He currently drives a Tesla Model 3 and has driven more than 100,000 kilometers on electricity since making the switch to an EV.\u00a0 He is anxiously awaiting a Cybertruck to start electrifying his construction company\u2019s vehicle fleet.\u00a0 Some of his favourite parts of owning an EV are being able to refuel at home, instant heat in winter, insane performance, and experiencing the latest advancements in technology.\u00a0 Russ is currently serving as Treasurer for SaskEV.<\/p>\n

Concern for the environment prompted my search for a means of transportation that would leave a smaller footprint. In 2018 I took possession of a Tesla Model 3 (blue – colour counts). I joined the SaskEV Board because it is an organization commitment to furthering the conversation around transitioning to electric vehicles.<\/p>\n

When I was 12, I started dreaming of an electric car. I had learned that they were many times more efficient than gas. I knew the oil refinery on 11th Street was ugly, dirty and stinky. I did not like it. I did not understand why people were not driving electric. Now that I am in my 60s, I enjoy my all electric Chevrolet Bolt very much.<\/p>\n

I became interested in EVs while I was studying engineering at the U of S and eventually purchased a Tesla Model 3 in the fall of 2018. I quickly became involved with\u00a0<\/span>SaskEV<\/span>, joining the board of directors shortly after and eventually founding the Tesla Owners Club of Saskatchewan. Watching and helping the EV community grow here in Saskatchewan has been a rewarding and empowering experience and has given me hope for the future of sustainable transportation here in our province.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_team_member][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.17.3″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_team_member name=”Margaret Campbell” position=”Director” image_url=”https:\/\/saskev.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/margaret_campbell.png” _builder_version=”4.17.3″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n We entered the EV world in 2018 in a small way with a Prius C hybrid. That got us thinking more about the many reasons to move towards an electric vehicle, and by 2020 we were considering getting a new car.\u00a0 We had almost decided to get a Prius Prime PHEV.\u00a0 Then we took another look at BEVs and quite fell in love with and purchased a 2015 BMW i3 with range extender.\u00a0 We liked everything about that little car and believe it to be a super city or commuter vehicle with but one problem \u2013 lack of range.\u00a0 In March 2022 we traded in the i3 for a Hyundai Ioniq 5, which has a decent range and so far seems to be a great car.\u00a0 We would not consider purchasing another ICE vehicle.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_team_member][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.17.3″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_team_member name=”Glenn Wright” position=”Secretary and Communications Coordinator” image_url=”https:\/\/saskev.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/glenn_wright.jpg” _builder_version=”4.17.3″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Burning fossil fuels is the principal cause of dangerous climate change, so this is why electrification of transportation is so important. I have always been a \u201ccar guy\u201d and I will likely own some Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs) for the rest of my life, but we try to do most of our activities without burning fossil fuels. Enjoying fossil fuels in moderation and appreciating those moments while doing most of my commuting using electricity makes sense. Our commuting using the EVs saves us 75% of the operating costs and there is much less maintenance. Our family has a 2017 Chev Bolt bought used and a 2019 Hyundai Kona EV. We started with a 2013 Nissan Leaf also bought used. We have driven over 125,000kms on electricity through four Saskatchewan winters.
